The History of www.hearourprayer.com

The idea for this website was born out of the Cursillo movement. A group of local business people have been meeting every Thursday morning for several years. We are an ecumenical group representing many different faiths. The purpose of our meeting is to encourage and support one another in our attempts to bring Christ into our work community and environments.

One morning during the spring of 1999, we were inspired to start a prayer website - a place that people could turn to if they were in need of prayer. We felt that in order for this website to truly affect its participants and our community, we would need the support of our local pastors and congregations. A meeting was held in the fall of 1999 and we were given the support and encouragement of several different congregations. These pastors and ministers would download prayer requests weekly and bring them to their services where their communities would pray and lift these requests to God. The clergy also agreed to have their own websites link to our website, this would give participants the opportunity for personal contact if they so desired.

How were we able to accomplish the design and building of this website and assist the clergy in their website design? As we were getting ready to begin our project, one of our members encountered a new client who just happened to be in the business of creating and designing websites. He enthusiastically offered to undertake this project for us. This was just one of many affirmations that this idea was God's plan, not ours. Another one of our group members owns a radio station. He has been our media contact, enabling us to promote and communicate the presence and purpose of this website.

Please know that this website was the fruit of our on-going prayer and commitment to God's will in our lives. We continue to pray that hearourprayer.com will bring peace to all those who enter this site.
